Basse Taille Enameling

Basse Taille is an enameling technique where a pattern or texture in the metal is clearly visible below the enamel.   In this three day class you will create a silver clay textured pendant and learn how to apply and fire gorgeous enamels.   Topics will also cover the use of warm color enamels such as reds, yellows, pinks and purples. 

 

The fee for this class includes instruction, use of enameling tools and supplies, and the enamels for the project.  It does not include metal clay tools or metal clay.  A supply list will be provided.

Leather Books and Silver Clay Clasps

Are you ready to make a hand made leather journal with a beautiful silver clasp?  Join Art Clay Master Instructor Pam East and  and master book binder Dea Sosa this unique class.  You will spend half of the week in one studio creating small books from scratch and the other half crafting a silver clay clasp and small embellishments. Then everyone comes together at the end to put it all together! Use paper, board, and leather for your soon-to-be-bound book and silver clay for your clasp and décor. By spending time in two studios, you will learn both processes and merge your creations into final projects. No experience is required for this unique week of creativity.

Use silver metal clay to create a delightful pendant with a tiny scene inside. Innovative silver clay contains pure metal powder mixed with an organic binder, allowing you to work it like clay. When fired, the binders burn away leaving pure fine silver. We'll cover clay handling, texturing, molding, box construction, firing, patina, and polishing.

Ready to try those lovely red, yellow, pink and purple enamels?   Learn how to handle warm color basse taille enameling on silver in this two day workshop.   Basse taille is the art of enameling over a textured surface so the pattern is clearly visible through the richly colored enamels.  Day one we will create pendants suitable for basse taille.  Day two will be devoted to enameling.
